The American writer, Ernest Hemingway bet ten dollars that he could write a complete story in just six words. He wrote: “For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.” He won the bet.
Inspired by this idea Larry Smith decided to challenge his online community, SMITH Magazine, in 2006.
He asked them one simple question that they should have answered with using only six words.
What would you say if you had just six words to define your life?
The results are fascinating, hilarious, shocking, and moving.
From stories like “Found true love, married someone else” to regrets “After Harvard, had baby with crackhead”.
With received answers Smith created the Six-Word Memoir book series.
